Associate Professor of English. She holds the Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies (University of Cincinnati) and the Master of Arts in English (University of Florida). Professor Hughey specializes in Rhetoric and Discourse Studies with an emphasis in discourse structures and use. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in English composition, advanced writing, rhetorical criticism, linguistics, history and theory of the English language, and Southern Literature. She has published articles on art as socio-cultural discourse and visual-print literacy (Dialogues: Arts in the Midwest), and the role of public narratives in cross-cultural civic engagement (Higher Education Exchange).
